On the rainwater drainage system – the continuation of the “Renovation and safety works in the Orangery building” task

The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów is currently finalising preparations for the awarding of an additional public procurement contract for the completion of the interrupted construction works. An open tender will be announced for the works consisting in particular of the construction of a fragment of the rainwater drainage system at the Orangery building. The last stage will be to connect an expansion well with a pipe to the rainwater drainage system serving the museum. All such works, provided for in the “Renovation and safety works in the Orangery building” task, are aimed at modernising and adapting the existing sewage system to current legal regulations.

A well with a float pump – the so-called pumping station – is still to be built. Its key task will be to receive rainwater, fed through a pipe from a nearby drain pipe, from a section of the Orangery roof. The pumping station will also receive water from the linear drain located in the floor of the external staircase platform at the Orangery building.

Thanks to the float pump, located in a new well, the accumulated rainwater will be transferred to the next element of the system – the so-called expansion well. There high velocities of water flow will be reduced by the loss of excess energy.

The additional public procurement in this scope is the result of the aforementioned problems with carrying out the “Renovation and safety works in the Orangery building” task. The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów has decided to initiate the final formal and legal steps against the General Contractor.
