The pandemic poses a tremendous challenge to cultural institutions, including museums. They must survive and ensure the security of the national historical treasures in their care. From one day to another, we were deprived of the ability to sell tickets to the palace and to the gardens, and to organise public events. Cost-generating activities have been limited to a minimum; scheduled projects were cancelled; expenses are being reduced. Still, we know that these actions will not suffice to account for our necessities.
The historical substance – the palace, historical collection of artworks, architecture and garden sculptures, landscape parks… – requires constant care, costly preventive and conservation work, special attention and protection.
The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, normally an advocate for self-sacrifice and charity, finds itself today among those in need, asking for your help.
