Lowering the floor in the Quiet Room and the Three Windows Cabinet, together with the replacement of the electrical wiring

The project was linked to the conservation and restoration work carried out in the Quiet Room and the Three Windows Cabinet. The floor level in the two rooms, as in the neighbouring Faience Cabinet, was lowered during the Palace renovation in the 1950s. The technology applied at that time necessitated the thickening of floors below the mentioned rooms, which resulted in an increase in the floor level by approx. 6 cm. This had an impact on room proportions and distorted the perception of the extremely valuable wall polychromes adorning the rooms. Replacing the electrical wiring in this part of the Palace was also very important. Due to applying new technologies, the floor was lowered, which revealed approx. 2.5 sq. m of unique Illusionist polychromes decorating the Quiet Room and the Three Windows Cabinet. The height of the floor in the Faience Cabinet was restored to the previous level during the work carried out in recent years.

Lowering the floor in the Quiet Room and the Three Windows Cabinet, together with the replacement of the electrical wiring were conducted as a part of the “The revitalisation and digitalisation of Wilanów, the only Baroque royal residence in Poland” project. The Project had secured support from the European Regional Development Fund under the Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013 Operational Programme, Priority XI “Culture and Cultural Heritage”, Activity 11.1. Protecting and maintaining cultural heritage of over-regional importance. In accordance with the adopted Project Implementation Scheme, the investment was completed by 30 September 2015. The total value of the Project: PLN 18 854 348,06. The amount of additional financing: PLN 14 912 881,37 (European Regional Development Fund: PLN 12 675 949,15, and State Budget: PLN 2 236 932,22).
